Cross
At some point, all of us need to answer the question, "Who do I think Jesus really is?" There are a variety of opinions surrounding the nature of Jesus. However, Jesus himself tells us the only way to heaven is through him: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father [in heaven] unless they come through me." John 14:6. While some say that Jesus is a great prophet, or a great teacher, or a great leader, or even just a good person, Jesus himself indicates that he is more than all of these images. He is not just a man among men, nor is he a great religious leader in a long line of religious leaders. No, his statement is that he is the above all men - "the only way" to heaven. To accept him as anything less is to not see him at all.

So, who do you think Jesus really is?

You can know Christ, not just as a man or prophet or teacher, but as the Son of God and Savior of the World.

Knowing Christ begins with a humble heart that admits you need a change in your life - a change that requires a new start. We all have problems. When we are honest with our lives, we know that we must admit our issues before God. No more pretending. He knows who you are and what you do. So, it is time to be honest with God and ourselves. Confess your sin. You will find that God is a willing and forgiving listener.

The next step to knowing Christ is turning your back on your old life and doing a u-turn in the other direction. This is called repentance.

Knowing Christ also includes believing in Christ. Now, just because you admitted your problems doesn’t mean that a change has occurred. And repentance leads us to look at Christ instead of our sin. But now you must believe that he is the only way to heaven. Let Jesus fill the places in your heart when the problems of the past lived. If you ask him to fill your heart and clean out the junk, the he will come and cleanse you. He will start your new life. When he cleanses you, the changes will follow.

Now that you have turned away from the old ways and turned to Christ as your Lord (your Boss), now we take the next step in Knowing Christ: telling the world that he has changed your heart. We need to use both our mouths and our bodies to show our new faith. We must tell with our mouths that Jesus is our Lord, and we must show by our actions in baptism and a changed life that he helps us control our actions.

Thus, through admission of sin, repentance, belief in Christ, and testimony to the world we begin the process of Knowing Christ. It is a life - long adventure that is an unbelievable journey. So, if you are ready to call him Lord, then jump in and start the journey.
