Cross
Shadow Hills Baptist Church was started in 1989 by its founding pastor, Walter Goodnight, and the cooperation of several local Baptist churches, including FBC Shallowater and Trinity Baptist Church. We are affiliated with the Lubbock Area Baptist Association, Texas Baptist of the BGCT, the Cooperative Program of the BGCT/SBC; and we also work with Buckner's International and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

The original vision for SHBC was to provide a place of worship for the growing NW side of Lubbock. As NW Lubbock has grown and developed, so has SHBC. We currently are situated in an area of Lubbock that is full diverse needs:
1. There are many apartments, rental properties, and "starter" homes.
2. There are many families in our area, as evidenced by new elementary and junior high schools.
3. There are several retirement facilities and nursing homes in our area.
4. We also are seeing a great diversity in the ethnic make-up of our community.

So, SHBC finds itself in a very diverse part of Lubbock with unique challenges in meeting the diverse needs of the surrounding community, including college and career-minded singles, young families, rental property tenants, and seasoned citizens. What a tremendous opportunity for the body of Christ to minister to these portions of our community!

Our purpose, thus, is to provide the following for our community.
1. A worship experience that allows anyone to enter and find God.
2. Opportunities for discipleship that include more knowledge about God and also more spiritual formation with God, so that we might "Love God."
3. Opportunities to serve in the community, so that we may obey God's command "Love your neighbor."
